This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) applies to the personal information that Chall AS, a Norwegian limited liability company with registration number 927 063 352, processes in connection with Chall apps, websites, software, and related services (the “Platform”) that link to or reference this Privacy Policy.
By using the Platform, you accept and acknowledge that the information collected, used, and shared by Chall is collected in the legitimate interest of Chall to provide you and our community of users with the features of the Platform.
2. What Information We Collect
We collect your information directly from you and from your usage of the Platform. See details about the information we collect below.
2.1 Information You Provide
Profile Information: We collect information you provide when setting up an account, such as your date of birth, username, email address, and/or telephone number. You can add other information to your profile, such as a bio or profile photo.
User Content: We collect content you create or publish through the Platform, including photographs, videos, audio recordings, comments, hashtags, feedback, reviews, and associated metadata (e.g., when, where, and by whom the content was created). Information about you may appear in content created or published by others. We also collect content from your device’s clipboard if you choose to copy and paste content to or from the Platform or share content between it and a third-party platform.
Information When You Contact Us: When you contact us, we collect the information you send, such as proof of identity or age, feedback, or inquiries about your Platform usage or possible violations of our Terms of Service (our “Terms”), Community Policy (our “Community Policy”), or other policies.
Information From Forms and Features You Use: We collect information you provide when filling in a form on the Platform, such as requesting Chall to set up an organization with you as an administrator.
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
Technical Information: We collect device and network connection information when you access the Platform, including device model, operating system, keystroke patterns, IP address, and system language. We also collect service-related, diagnostic, and performance information, such as crash reports and performance logs. We automatically assign you a device ID and user ID. For multiple device logins, we use device and user IDs to identify activity across devices to provide a seamless login experience and for security purposes.
Location Information: We automatically collect approximate location information (e.g., country, state, or city) based on your Technical Information (such as SIM card and IP address). If you enable location services for Chall within your device settings, we collect approximate location information from your device.
Usage Information: We collect information about how you engage with the Platform, including content viewed, duration and frequency of use, engagement with other users, search history, and settings.
Content Characteristics and Features: We detect and collect characteristics of videos, images, and audio recordings in your User Content, such as identifying objects, scenery, faces, and body parts, as well as text of spoken words. This supports content moderation and features like video filters, avatars, and captions.
Inferred Information: We infer your attributes (e.g., age range and gender) and interests based on collected information. Inferences help keep the Platform safe, assist in content moderation, and (where permitted) personalize ads based on your interests.
Cookies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the Platform, such as remembering language preferences, ensuring unique video views, and for security. 3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate, provide, develop, and improve the Platform, including for the following purposes:
Provide and administer the Platform, enabling you to create, share, consume content, interact with other users, and receive user support.
Enforce our Terms, Community Policy, and other policies that apply to you, using technology (including automated means) and human moderation to protect community safety.
Maintain and enhance Platform safety, security, and stability by identifying and addressing technical or security issues (e.g., technical bugs, spam accounts, abuse, fraud, and illegal activity).
Review, improve, and develop the Platform by monitoring interactions, analyzing usage across devices, and training, testing, and improving our technology, including machine learning models and algorithms.
Share your information with third-party platforms to provide features (e.g., content sharing) when you integrate your Chall account with a third-party service.
Facilitate research by independent researchers meeting specific criteria.
Promote the Platform or third-party services through marketing communications, contests, or promotions.
Comply with legal obligations, or as necessary to perform tasks in the public interest or protect user and public interests.
4. How We Share Your Information
4.1 Service Providers
We engage service providers to support the Platform and understand usage, such as cloud hosting, content delivery, customer and technical support, content moderation, marketing, analytics, and payments.
4.2 Partners
Third-Party Platforms and Partners: We share limited information (e.g., information you provide and technical information) with third-party platforms and partners integrated with the Platform. This supports a seamless experience, content sharing, and user authentication. For example:
Signing up or logging into Chall with third-party account details (e.g., Apple or Google) involves sharing certain technical information.
Sharing user content on other social media platforms involves sharing your content and related information.
Advertisers: We provide advertisers with aggregate information about ad and content performance on the Platform, helping them measure effectiveness. We create aggregate information using your data and share information directly with advertisers when permitted.
Measurement and Data Partners: We may share your information with third-party measurement providers to measure Platform advertising and help advertisers determine ad effectiveness.
Merchants, Payment and Transaction Fulfillment Providers: When you make a payment, we share information related to the transaction with merchants and service providers (e.g., order items, contact details, and delivery information). Certain technical information about your device or connection is also shared for transaction security.
4.3 Others
Users and the Public: Based on your privacy settings, certain information (e.g., profile information, user content, usage information) may be visible to users and the public. For example, your profile information will be visible to all users, and your content may be shared publicly through the Chall sharing feature.
Hosts: When you contribute to a challenge or competition, the host may access your contact information (e.g., email or phone number) to reach out, such as if you win a prize.
Users of Our Analytics Services: We provide aggregated statistics to help users and businesses understand Platform engagement. For example, creators and advertisers can access data on views, cheers, comments, and shares.
Independent Researchers: We may share your information with independent researchers for research that meets specific criteria.
Corporate Transactions: Your information may be disclosed in corporate transactions, such as mergers, sales, reorganizations, or acquisitions.
Legal Obligations and Rights: We may access, preserve, and share your information with law enforcement agencies, public authorities, researchers, copyright holders, or other third parties if necessary to:
Comply with laws, legal processes, or government requests.
Protect rights, property, and safety of users, including preventing imminent bodily harm. For instance, in emergencies where life is at risk, we may provide information (e.g., IP address) to law enforcement.

Delete Your Information: You can delete or request deletion of some or all of your information.
Rectify Your Information: You can change or request correction of inaccurate information. Many changes can be made via in-app settings (e.g., user profile).
Port Your Information: When applicable, you can receive your information in a structured, machine-readable format for transfer to a third party.
Object to Processing: You have the right to object to processing, typically by deleting your account.
Restrict Processing: You may request restriction on processing if (a) challenging accuracy, (b) data was unlawfully processed, (c) data retention is needed for legal claims, or (d) awaiting outcome of an objection.

6. Data Security and Retention
We prioritize the security of your information, using technical, administrative, and physical measures to protect against unauthorized access, theft, disclosure, modification, or loss. Security measures are regularly reviewed.
We retain information as long as necessary to provide the Platform and for purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, including legal obligations, legitimate business interests, and legal claims.
All data collected by Chall is stored within the EEA and will not be transferred outside the EEA without consent.
7. Younger Users
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform. If you believe a user is below this minimum age, please contact support@chall.no.
8. Privacy Policy Updates
We may amend or update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of any material changes. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the effective date of these changes.
